These balls are generally reserved for high handicap, slow swing speeds or beginner to intermediate golfers or for golfers just seeking explosive distance and less side spin. Distance balls, in most cases, are two-piece balls with Surlyn covers that are generally cut-proof. Two-piece balls consist of a thin outer cover, surrounding a large solid inner core. This is the design used by most distance balls. The harder the core material, the further the ball travels.
